In split votes, the Southern State Community College Board of Trustees voted to approve an increase in technology fees beginning spring quarter and an increase in tuition for the fall semester, which will go toward offsetting an estimated $900,000 projected deficit. 

The average increase in cost between the two years is 3.6 percent.

The board also voted to increase the fees for their truck driving academy, which has been operating under a deficit, despite an estimated 17 percent in cuts to the program's budget.

While waiting for a jury to render a verdict, a man who was accused of his role in a Greenfield area drug operation that allegedly sold drugs during the first part of the month so that "customers" would have money from their public assistance checks, has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge. 

  Jesse Ray Pryor, 22, was indicted in October on five counts, including trafficking in drugs, a felony of the second degree; possession of drugs, a felony of the second degree; trafficking in drugs, a felony of the second degree; possession of drugs, a felony of the second degree; and a forfeiture specification, following a Sept. 2 raid by the Greenfield Police Department and Hillsboro/Greenfield Joint Special Response Team on a home on Second Street in Greenfield.

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss has denied a request to set aside the convictions and prison sentence of a Greenfield man serving 20 years in prison on involuntary manslaughter charges in connection with the deaths of his two young sons.

The body of an adult female was found Saturday in the Fallsville Wildlife Area. 

Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward told The Highland County Press that the woman had been reported missing earlier this week, and at this point they do not consider the death to be suspicious.
