    The Hillsboro City Council held a special meeting on Sunday, Nov. 1 to approve an ordinance regarding funding for the new police and fire building.
  • Artisan Folk Fair to be held this weekend
    If you and your family are looking for something to do this weekend, plan to attend Leesburg’s Artisan Folk Fair Nov. 7 & 8.  Artisans and crafters will be offering items for sale to the public, and many will be demonstrating.  There will be scroll saw masters, leather workers, soap makers, and weavers.  Artisans will be sewing, crocheting and sharing their talents.  An entire room is dedicated to quilting thanks to several quilt clubs from Highland county.  Vote for your favorite!  The event is held at Fairfield school.

       A majority of the county attorneys who are paid to provide counsel to indigent clients has signed off on an agreement to accept a reduction in compensation.
  • SATH to hold 13th Annual Walk and Roll-A-Thon
    S.A.T.H. (Supplementary Assistance to the Handicapped) will be holding its 13th Annual Walk and Roll-A-Thon on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Rocky Fork State Park in Hillsboro, Ohio. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Dovetail Activity Area. Walkers, wheelchairs, bikes, roller blades, strollers, etc., are invited to come out for the day and help KAMP Dovetail with their pledges and support. Prizes will be given to the top three individuals who collect the most pledges. Door prizes and refreshments will be provided. 
  • Governor Strickland Announces 2009 Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Inductees
    Governor Ted Strickland has announced the 2009 inductees to the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame.  The 20 veterans include representatives of armed conflicts from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Operation Joint Endeavor and Operation Desert Storm.
