    A Hillsboro City Council committee will review a request from the Highland County Convention and Visitors Bureau to increase the percentage of the city's lodging tax the organization receives, with the intention of putting the additional funds toward a convention and visitors center.

  • Hearing continued for former Greenfield officer
    An arraignment hearing for a former Greenfield Police Officer has been continued until late February.
      Kyle Duff, 41, of Greenfield, was arrested Nov. 30 on misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and handling a firearm while intoxicated. He subsequently resigned from his post as a GPD officer.

  • Hillsboro man charged with drug trafficking
    A Hillsboro man has been arrested and charged on three counts of trafficking in drugs in the presence of a minor. John Cumberland, Jr., 68, has been placed in the Highland County Justice Center and will be arraigned Monday, Jan. 9, following the Saturday, Jan. 7 arrest.
  • Fugitive from Florida arrested in Highland County
    According to a news release from the Highland County Sheriff's Office, information was received that Daniel Lee Henges, Jr., 42, of Brown County, and formerly of Florida, was in the Lynchburg area on January 6, and had an active warrant for his arrest out of the state of Florida.

    A Greenfield man was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday after he threatened to shoot a woman in a Greenfield parking lot if she did not give him all her money. He escaped the incident with $30 and a pack of cigarettes.
