Thursday saw the Whiteoak Wildcats stay undefeated in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference by defeating the visiting Eastern Warriors 7-2, and en route to the win, the Wildcats were error-free.

Trailing early on in their Southern Hills Athletic Conference game Tuesday night, the Whiteoak Wildcats continued to do what they’ve done most of the season, which is play clutch baseball and leave the diamond with a victory.

Friday and Saturday were two very productive days for the Hillsboro Indians baseball team as they defeated the Jackson Ironmen in Frontier Athletic Conference play on Friday and then won twice Saturday to win the Wildcats Wooden Bat Classic by defeating Rock Hill and Whiteoak.

The Whiteoak Wildcats played an away game on their home field for the second time this season, and had the same result as they defeated the Peebles Indians, 12-1 in six innings in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action.

Tuesday was a battle between the two Southern Hills Athletic Conference champions from last season, and like in 2018, it was the Whiteoak Wildcats who handed the West Union Dragons a conference loss, this time by a 6-4 score at Whiteoak High School.

After having a rainout on Monday, the weather cooperated with the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats on Tuesday as the home game of West Union was moved to WHS, with the Lady ’Cats being the away team at their home field.

Highland County high school baseball enters the 2019 season with a lot of momentum for some teams after very successful, record-breaking and history-making seasons. One of those teams is the Whiteoak Wildcats, who not only won 28 games, but were conference, sectional, district and regional champions on their way to qualifying for the Division IV State Semifinals one year ago.

The 2019 softball season is set to start for the five teams in Highland County, with all of the teams playing at various levels for the upcoming year. The Fairfield Lady Lions enter the season as one of the top teams in the Southeast District, coming off a year when they won another district championship and played in the regional round of the postseason.
