Issue 3.
It's very simple. Make Ohio's photo identification law to vote part of the Ohio Constitution.
The requirement belongs on the ballot because at a foundational level it protects the Constitution.
Photo identification protects registered voters and it protects the integrity and security of Ohio's elections.
Senator Jane Timken co-sponsored the bill to place Issue 3 on the ballot.
Every election has outcomes that can't be measured immediately.
The real returns aren't on election night. The impact — good or bad — appears years later.
In the past decade, Senate Republicans have lowered the income tax burden by pushing for and passing the repeal of eight income tax brackets.
Today, there is a single flat tax, and no one making $26,050 or less pays state income taxes.
The left always complains about there not being enough money for all those deep state programs but they forget your tax dollars really represent your hard earned paycheck.
Senate Republicans believe it's your money first, not the government's money.
The Constitution requires Ohio's budget to be balanced. Yet another reason to protect it this fall.
Not only have legislative republicans passed balanced budgets by reducing the tax burden, this has generated budget surpluses that allowed for the passage of the gas tax holiday last month.
Yet, a majority of democrats in the General Assembly voted against the 90 day suspension of Ohio's 38.5 cent per gallon gas tax. That's $725 million in savings kept by hard working Ohioans all made possible by responsible budgeting and reducing the tax burden.
This year, Ohio was recognized as the number one state to do business in by CNBC. It's a coveted position that brings plenty of national recognition. Now is not the time to return to increasing the tax burden on Ohioans, nor is it the time to put "woke" ahead of your children's future, or to jeopardize the mission of making Ohio a great place to live, work, and raise a family with the worthless rise of socialism and its empty promises from today's left that has infiltrated the Democratic Party.
The elitist, entitled and always offended will forever be angry about your success, and they will want to tax you and tell you how to live. Much like today's editorial boards that rail against Republican policies and candidates lecturing you about fairness and why you don't deserve what you have earned.
Fortunately, most people are far too busy working to care about the media.
Economists consider Ohio to be at full employment; 3.3% unemployment is a remarkable achievement and the economy remains strong.
