The Hillsboro KFC Girls Strikers soccer team completed its 2010 season among the Elite Eight in the state of Ohio. The Strikers advanced to the state SAY Tournament on Nov. 20 at Little Miami High School. They won their first game in double overtime, then lost in another double-overtime contest.

Townships that have contracted with the city of Hillsboro for fire and emergency medical services say they will continue to utilize the EMS services of Hillsboro Fire and Rescue, unless the city declines to provide EMS services through the end of 2011 at no extra charge.
The Baseball Writers Association of America have selected Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto as the National League's Most Valuable Player in 2010. Votto received 31 of the 32 first-place votes cast by the writers to outdistance St. Louis' Albert Pujols (279 votes) and Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez (240 votes).
Highland County Auditor Bill Fawley was one of the guest speakers at the Highland County Board of Realtors' luncheon Nov. 18 at the Ponderosa banquet center in Hillsboro. Fawley discussed tax values of local real estate, the sales ratio reports from the Ohio Department of Taxation, the CAUV (Current Agricultural Use Value) assessments and other issues with the Realtors and affiliates.
