The new era of Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs basketball got off to a winning start Friday afternoon, with LC defeating the Hillsboro Lady Indians 64-26, at Hillsboro High School in the 6th Annual Highland County Girls Basketball Shootout.

The Greenfield City Council has called a special meeting to discuss pending financial issues that were initially addressed at the Nov. 16 council meeting.
 The finance committee has twice met to find a more economical solution to a potential 44-percent increase to the city's health insurance premiums, including a meeting held Friday morning.

Republicans oppose this health care bill because it is a horrible piece of legislation, not because we oppose health care reform. I believe that Congress can do better and expect them to do so.

The Highland County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution for two part-time positions with the Department of Job and Family Services at their Nov. 24 commission meeting. Debbie Robbins, executive director of the Highland County Department of Job and Family Services, had requested two part-time positions, up to 30 hours per week for each position, at a rate of $10 per hour, up from $8.50 an hour.

Last week certainly had a more typical look and feel of fall weather with the cooler, damp, and windy conditions.  The wind certainly removed most of the remaining leaves on the trees. As I have said on many occasions before, I am definitely not a big fan of the shorter daylight hours that this time of year brings. Maybe it wouldn’t seem so bad this year if the Bengals were having a better season!
