Lynchburg Village Christmas marks 18th season Dec. 10-11

Lynchburg is busy preparing for its annual Village Christmas. This marks the 18th year for the event, which is held the second weekend in December (Dec. 10-11).

So, with eight league games played, the Indians had a commanding three-game lead over the field. Coach Sam Snyder had instilled a level of confidence   into this team that hadn’t been seen in Hillsboro for many years. The Indians went into every game expecting to win.

A clean stove and Thanksgiving musings
Before I attempt to write this Thanksgiving 2010 column, I must inform our dear friend Lynn Neal that Colin and I are not cleaning the stove this week. The task has been accomplished by someone who hopes my annual rant, “Giving thanks for a clean stove,” has been put out to the range pasture once and for all.

Many lose electricity on Thanksgiving
Thousands of residents in southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky experienced power outages on Thanksgiving. Several AEP Ohio customers in southern Highland County and northern Adams County were without electricity from 7 p.m. Thanksgiving until after 3 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26. Many of these homes were in the Fairfax and Belfast areas.

West receives award from OSBA and OESCA
Roger West, a board member of the Southern Ohio Educational Service Center, was recently honored with the Ohio School Boards Association’s Veterans Board Member Award at the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) 55th Capital Conference on Nov. 10 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
Roger D. Hottinger
Roger D. Hottinger, 60, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010 at Hearth and Care in Greenfield.  
 He was born April 18, 1950 in Peebles, the son of the late Chris and Faye Shoemaker Hottinger.  He was a member of the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church.
