Dettwiller homers twice in Lady Tigers' win over Eastern

The McClain Lady Tigers wrapped up their first week of play in a big way Friday against the Eastern Brown Lady Warriors. With the help of two home runs by senior Megan Dettwiller, the Lady Tigers gained their third win of the year, defeating EB, 8-3 on a cold and windy day at Daryle C. Unger Field.

Tigers held to 3 hits in loss to Warriors
One day following their first loss of the season, the McClain Tigers' bats were still struggling to make a connection with the baseball. The Tigers were held to three hits over seven innings, falling to the Eastern Brown Warriors, 5-4 Friday at Mitchell Park.

Pinwheels planted in remembrance of child abuse victims
The lawn of the Highland County Courthouse was "planted" with 350 pinwheels Friday afternoon in commemoration of Child Abuse Prevention Month. 
Each pinwheel represents a case of child abuse or neglect in Highland County during 2010. This year's pinwheels number nearly 100 more than last  year's 266, a sign that instances child abuse are on the rise in Highland County.

A three-run third inning by the Fayetteville Rockets proved to be just enough to overtake the Fairfield Lions, Thursday at Fayetteville High School. The Lions' four hits and one run weren't enough to catch up with their Southern Hills League rival, falling in their league matchup, 3-1.
