The Annual Second Grade Art Show took place in Greenfield Elementary on May 6. Students were judged in many categories and a variety of ribbons were designated, including first through fifth, plus honorable mentions.

Highland County Board of Developmental Disabilities member Gary Boatman has resigned from the board. Boatman told The Highland County Press on Monday that he submitted his resignation this week because he needed to concentrate on work, and that his responsibilities with the board were beginning to take time away from that.
The Hillsboro Post 129 American Legion baseball team recently played Madison County, Lima and the Columbus Braves. The are currently 1-5 overall this season.

The Highland County Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the local business community at the 2011 annual dinner, scheduled for Thursday, June 16 at the Fling Barn, just south of Hillsboro.
The weather was perfect for the Great Strides: Taking Steps to Cure Cystic Fibrosis event held May 21 at Southern State Community College’s Fayette Campus in Washington Court House. Event organizer Chyane Collins said there were 90 participants and the current fundraising total exceeds $3,800.
The Southern State Singers will present “Music from the Stage and Screen” concert 3 p.m. Sunday, June 12, in Room 107 of Southern State Community College’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The event is free and open to the public.
