SSCC in stable financial position; no tuition increase anticipated
Changes proposed by the Ohio Senate for the biennial budget include a cap on tuition increases at $200 for community and technical colleges, rather than the 3.5 percent that applies to other institutions. But prior to the Senate changes, Southern State Community College said it will not be seeking a tuition increase.

CHILLICOTHE - Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Highland County Highway Maintenance Facility will undertake a culvert replacement project on state Route 753 later this month, requiring a weeklong closure of the route.

Head Start celebrates school year's end with bowling party
The Highland County Community Action Head Start program recently visited Highland Lanes at 1086 North High Street, Hillsboro, and an end-of-the-year celebration. The manager, Shane Ison, enthusiastically supported the event, and opened up the business on a day it is normally closed in order to accommodate the Head Start children and their families.

I was fortunate to serve with Ben on the SSCC board since his appointment by Gov. Ted Strickland in 2008/ In addition to his friendship, the board appreciated Ben’s straightforward approach and wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed more than words can say.
