HHS announces leadership seminar representative

Each year public and private high schools across the country select an outstanding sophomore to attend one of the more than eighty Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership seminars held throughout the country. 
39th Annual Rotary Telethon is Wednesday
The Highland County Society for Children and Adults, and the Rotary clubs in both Hillsboro and Greenfield are gearing up for the 39th Annual Rotary Telethon, scheduled for Wednesday, March 31.
 The event will once again be hosted by Ernie Blankenship. The Hillsboro telethon will be held from 6-10 p.m. at U.S. Bank, and the Greenfield event will be held at McClain High School.
Pork Producers crown 2011 queen
The Highland County Pork Producers held their Annual Banquet on March 24 at the Pondo Banquet Center in Hillsboro, during which they crowned their 2011 queen.
Kayla Deatley took home top honors at this years Annual Banquet by being named the 2011 Highland County Pork Industry Queen.
Crews battle Concord Road barn fire; Berrysville grass fire

At least three fire departments responded to a barn fire on Concord Road Monday afternoon. 

The metal structure caught fire at approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday, and Hillsboro Fire and Rescue responded, with Marshall and Mowrystown fire departments providing mutual aid. 

Further information was not immediately available, as crews were dispatched to a grass fire on Reno Lane near Berrysville following the Concord Road fire.

SSCC to offer one-day seminar in supervision and leadership
Southern State Community College will offer the one-day seminar “How to Supervise People and Lead a Team” from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday, April 14, in Room 403.02 of the college’s Central Campus, 100Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. A program fee of $129 will be assessed.

Dave Williams, 57, of Hillsboro, died Saturday, March 26, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.
HHCA offers drug awareness class
Highland Holiday Community Association (HHCA) is a homeowners community at Rocky Fork Lake committed to having a better community. The group members, as neighbors and homeowners, watch out for each other. The association is driven by the desire to help one another and the surrounding areas as well.
