Following the conclusion of the football regular-season Saturday night, the Ohio High School Athletic Association has released the regional quarterfinal pairings and final computer ratings. For the 13th year, 192 teams have qualified for the playoffs, representing four regions from each of six divisions.

Highland County will be well represented in the 2011 State Cross-Country Championships next Saturday as Hillsboro's Collin Rothwell and Fairfield's Michael Mangus and Blake Hildebrant all raced their way to Top 16 finishes in their respective regional meets the Saturday at Pickerington North High School.

The '11 Rotary Bowl came down to a 2-point conversion. One simple play was the difference between a win or loss for both teams, but this time a missed two-point conversion in the fourth quarter by the McClain Tigers not only sent the Hillsboro Indians home with a 28-27 victory Friday night, but they regained possession of the coveted Rotary Bowl.

The Fairfield Lions boys cross-country team won their Division II SE District (District I) championship, while the Hillsboro Indians boys placed fourth in their Division II, District II meet to reach the regional tournament next weekend.

The first half went pretty well for the Hillsboro Indians. They scored 14 points, stood up for their quarterback and were close to the Miami Trace Panthers on the scoreboard. If anyone, and I mean anyone claims to be a fan of the sport of soccer, especially high school soccer, and they have the means to attend the event … well, maybe they should make or change their plans to be at McClain Field on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 4 p.m. to watch the Hillsboro Indians and McClain Tigers play for the third time this season in boys soccer.
