Hillsboro man arrested following vehicle break-ins

Between the dates of April 4 and April 15, the Hillsboro Police Department received multiple calls in reference to vehicles being entered without permission and items being stolen. The areas ranged from Willettsville Pike, Northview Drive and Oak Hills Drive.

Paint Creek and Grain Bin Rescue Team extricate farmer from grain bin

At 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, Paint Creek Fire received a call of a subject stuck in a grain bin at 5309 Mad River Road in New Market Township. The Highland County Grain Bin Rescue Team was activated at the same time, as reports were the subject was submerged in grain up the level of his chest.

Construction set to begin for Hobart Drive extension

Preliminary plans for the Hobart/Carl Smith Drive project began in January 2007 when Dean Otworth approached the department with a vision to improve the area’s transportation network by extending the existing Hobart Road from its terminus near U.S. Route 62 at the northern corporation limit of Hillsboro to state Route 73 at the city’s west side. Eight years, several designs and countless hours later, the project has come together and construction is about to start.
