  • Fairfield students hold science fair

    On March 2nd, Fairfield 8th grade held their 8th grade science fair.  Ten team projects received superior ratings and will be representing Fairfield at the District Science Day at Wilmington College on March 27th.  The top projects include:
  • Worldwalker Steve Newman to discuss global journey
    Steve Newman, known internationally as the “Worldwalker,” will be the guest speaker 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 1, at Southern State Community College’s South Campus, 12681 US Route 62, near Sardinia.   • HCCS students collect cans
    The Highland County Christian School recently participated in the Operation Feed America Program. The students collected a total of 225 cans.  The individual grade winners are as follows:

    The February students of the month from Buckskin were:  Eli Johnson, Jacob Barnhart, Kerigan Pollard, Fiona Gilbert, Evelyn Vanzant, Ali Hogle, Kaleb Harper, Garrett Brewer and Caleb Lucas.

  • Hillsboro kindergarten registration
     Registration for children who will attend kindergarten in the Hillsboro City Schools during the 2010-2011 school year will be conducted on Wednesday, April 7.
  • Dettwiller named to UD dean's list
    The University of Dayton has named more than 2,100 students to the dean's list for the fall semester of the 2009-2010 academic year. To be named to the dean's list at UD, a student must achieve a superior academic record, which is a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  • LCHS freshman recognized by Ohio Poetry Association
    Megann Hendricks, a Lynchburg Clay High School freshman, recently received several awards from the Ohio Poetry Association.  The association, chartered originally as the Verse Writers' Guild of Ohio, is a nonprofit, educational organization that strives to promote the art of poetry and support poets and others who appreciate poetry.
  • District Power of the Pen competition held at SSCC
    The District Power of the Pen Competition for seventh and eighth graders was held once again at Southern State Community College on Feb. 19.
  • Area residents graduate from Wilmington College
    Wilmington College announced recently the names of December graduates earning their bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees at the end of the 2009 fall semester.
  • WHS honors students of the month
    The beginning of the month brings a new group of students to the forefront for their excellence at Whiteoak High School.
  • Greenfield Exempted Village School District to hold kindergarten registration
    The Greenfield Exempted Village School District Kindergarten Registration will be held from April 13-15, 2010.  The child must be at least five years of age by September 30, 2010 to register.  Please note that parents will register their child at their school of residence.  At Greenfield Elementary, registration will be according to the child's birth date.
  • Holly Hilliard named to Duke University dean's list
    DURHAM, N.C. - Holly Marie Hilliard, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Hilliard of Hillsboro and a graduate of Hillsboro High School, has been named to the dean's list with distinction for the fall 2009 semester at Duke University in Durham, N.C.

  • Wilmington College honored by Obama White House for service
    Wilmington College's leadership in helping to build a national culture of service and civic engagement was recognized by inclusion in the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.
  • Domestic violence survivor to discuss memoir at Southern State
    Domestic violence survivor Marala Scott will discuss her memoir, “In Our House: Perception vs. Reality,” 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The event is free and open to the public.
