Sixty-two graduates of Southern State Community College’s program in associate degree nursing were recognized during a recent pinning ceremony at the college’s Patriot Center on Central Campus in Hillsboro.
The Alpha Omicron Eta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society at Southern State Community College received special commendation during the Ohio Region Regional Convention for fulfilling all requirements to be named a “Three-Star Chapter.” The chapter also was recognized at the society’s recent annual convention and will be cited on the society’s web site at www.ptk.org.
The new Ohio Appalachian Chapter of Medical Assistants (OACMA) recently has been established by the medical assisting department at Southern State Community College. The OACMA is a newly formed chapter of the Ohio State Society of Medical Assistants, a professional organization providing opportunities for continuing education.

Good news for those interested in Southern State Community College's associate degree nursing program - the wait list is gone. Beginning with the spring 2011 class, the college will use a competitive-entry format for all applicants.
The third annual early childhood education conference, "Building Bridges Birth Through Grade Three," will be held Aug. 11-13, 2010, at Southern State Community College's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
Southern State Community College has released its president’s and dean’s lists for academic excellence for Spring Quarter 2010. To be eligible for the president’s list, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average while carrying a minimum of 12 academic credit hours.
BLUFFTON - The dean's list for the spring semester at Bluffton University has been announced. Students with a GPA of 3.6 are eligible for the dean's list. Students whose cumulative GPA is at least 3.75 based on 20 semester hours receive distinction for continued high achievement. Courtney Zimmerman is a graduate of Fairfield Local in Highland County was named to the list.
