Lynchburg-Clay Elementary has announced the Students of the Month for October.

The Fairfield FFA chapter was challenged by McClain FFA to the “10 Gallon Milk Challenge.” This challenge encourages groups or organizations to buy 10 gallons of milk and donate them to local charities.

The Hillsboro FFA officer team kicked off their year by introducing themselves to all of the members in the chapter. They presented a slideshow to each of the classes telling the members facts about each of the officers.

On Oct. 11, the Great Oaks Summer Career Camps were recognized as the Outstanding Multi-District Program by Ohio School Boards Association/Southwest Region (SWOSBA) at the Southwest Region Conference held at the Miami Valley Career Technology Center.

On Oct. 11, the top educational programs were recognized at the Southwest Region Conference in the Miami Valley Career Technology Center in select categories. Sarah Taylor and Great Oaks’ Career Exploration program were honored as the Outstanding Special Recognition Program by the Ohio School Boards Association/Southwest Region (SWOSBA).

The first floor of McClain High School received an eye-catching makeover over the summer, with a new floor installed and new paint on the walls. School board member Sandy Free led the effort, and she said that many community members volunteered their time to help.

The fourth- and fifth-grade students at Buckskin Elementary recently participated in a co-ed round-robin intramural flag football tournament. The 2018-19 intramural season is played during lunchtime recess with a variety of physical activities. 

McClain FFA’s ag and urban soil teams competed at the state level on Oct. 13.

On Saturday, Oct. 13, the Fairfield FFA Rural Soil Judging Team traveled to the state competition and finished 34th out of 49 teams.

The Greenfield McClain Tiger Boosters organization is a charitable, nonprofit organization that exists to support the McClain High School Athletic Department, generating and growing community and financial support for the athletic programs within the school system.

Lynchburg-Clay High School will be hosting a Patriotic 5k Run/Walk and a Kiddie Race on Nov. 3 beginning at 8 a.m. The race will begin and end in the middle of Lynchburg.

More than 200 scholarship recipients, donors, faculty, staff and community partners of the University of Cincinnati Clermont College gathered Oct. 9 on the college’s Batavia campus for the 2018 Community Appreciation Luncheon.

On the evening of Oct. 6, McClain FFA officers got together for their fall officer retreat.
