Lead Summary

Ricky Powell, a musically gifted student at McClain High School, has hopes to travel to Europe next year. He was nominated by MHS band instructor Blayne Weddington to play with the Ohio Ambassadors of Music.
As of early October, $3,900 out of $6,245 is still needed to fund his trip. In November, there will be a bake sale to help raise money for the cause (donations for the bake sale will be taken around that time), along with a TV raffle in December.

Powell says that he is “overwhelmed by the support that the school has given me. The staff, students, student council and everyone have been supportive. I can’t thank them enough for this. It really means the world to have people believe in me.”
If you would like to help send Powell to Europe, leave a message at MHS (937-981-7731) for Powell. Support with upcoming fundraisers would also be greatly appreciated.
