Building on the success of the mapping of trees on Shawnee State University’s campus in 2019, Class of 2021 graduates Brianna Combs and Emily Dean worked with university professors Dr. Erik Larson and Dr. Logan Minter during their senior year to complete a GPS tagging of the trees and greenery in Greenlawn Cemetery, located in Portsmouth.

The numbers are in and confirm that the 65th edition of the Wilmington College Aggies' annual Judging Contest was a record-breaker in attracting 1,608 participants from Ohio and three neighboring states on March 1. Numbers eclipsed last year's 1,600 competitors.

A junior from Mansfield, Ohio, Brandon Reed has always had his eyes set on Shawnee State University. Majoring in game & simulation art, Reed completed his general education courses at another institution before transferring to one of the top-ranked game design universities.

An early childhood education major, Abby Baer is ready to begin her career. A native of McDermott, Bauer transferred to Shawnee State University because she wanted to be closer to home.

A first of its kind for a professor at Shawnee State University, Dr. Lavanya Vemsani received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award in history from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board in 2020-2021.
