Tuesday night was very busy for Highland County girls basketball with four teams in action, as McClain and Lynchburg-Clay began their seasons, while Fairfield and Whiteoak played their second games on their schedule.

Following two wins by Highland County girls basketball teams on Monday to start the week, the schedule continues with four teams from the county in Fairfield, Lynchburg-Clay, McClain and Whiteoak all in action Tuesday.

Fairfield senior Grace Shope went the length of the court with the basketball to score the one point she’s waited for all offseason to become the Lady Lions’ all-time leading scorer on Monday in a 57-52 win over the East Clinton Lady Astros at Grandle Gymnasium.

When the Fairfield Lions open their season on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 2 in the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic, Coach Josh Howland will be making his head coaching debut. The Lions will be facing a familiar foe in the East Clinton Astros. The two teams tangled in last year’s season opener with Fairfield prevailing, 69-44.
