This past weekend saw Lynchburg-Clay senior Eric McLaughlin earn his 1,000th career point, coming against Miami Trace Saturday night in a home non-conference game at LCHS. He did so by scoring his 1,000th point with a slam dunk.

This Tuesday is for boys basketball as three teams from Highland County are taking the court for non-conference games early into the season, with the Hillsboro Indians going on the road to face Georgetown. Next is Fairfield hosting the Paint Valley Bearcats, and the Whiteoak Wildcats are hosting Felicity-Franklin.

Playing their second game in as many days to begin the regular season, the Fairfield Lions won their second straight game, with this time being a non-conference win against the East Clinton Astros by a 73-66 score.

Game one in the head coaching career for Fairfield head coach Josh Howland was one to remember on Friday night as he and the Fairfield Lions won their season opener at Manchester by a 73-48 score.

For the second time in three games this week, the Fairfield Lady Lions walked off the court of Grandle Gymnasium with a victory, this time winning in Southern Hills Athletic Conference play by defeating the visiting Fayetteville Lady Rockets by a 69-39 score.

Today is the day many basketball fans have been waiting for all winter long with the start of the boys season taking place. The first boys team in Highland County to take the court will be the Hillsboro Indians with them hosting the Eastern Brown at HHS in a non-conference game.

The Ohio Valley Hoops Classic tips off Friday night at the Patriot Center on the campus of Southern State Community College. It promises to be a great two days of basketball and more for local fans.
