Thursday night (Jan. 25) saw the Fairfield Lady Lions lose on the road in a Southern Hills athletic Conference game to the host North Adams Lady Green Devils — who are in first place in the Division I SHAC standings — by a 59-30 score.

Every sports winning streak eventually comes to an end, and Friday night, after 39 consecutive regular-season wins, the Fairfield Lions saw their regular-season winning streak come to a close after nearly a two-year span. 

The Ohio High School Athletic Association released the updated statewide rankings for girls and boys basketball Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) on Wednesday. 

The Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association, representing approximately 800 Ohio high school softball coaches, presented Fairfield’s Associate Head Coach Tom Purtell with their Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity Award at their annual conference on Jan. 13.

Playing the current champion of the Frontier Athletic Conference Monday night in non-conference play, the Fairfield Lady Lions of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference hosted Jackson and fell by eight points at 63-55. 

For the 15th time in 15 opportunities this season, the Fairfield Lions left the court with a victory, the most recent occurrence coming Saturday night as they defended Grandle Gymnasium with a 69-49 victory over the visiting Southeastern Panthers.

A late 3-pointer by the home team Fairfield Lady Lions pushed the game against the visiting Whiteoak Lady Wildcats into overtime on Thursday night. Though FHS was the team with the momentum going into OT, it was Whiteoak who battled and earned the Southern Hills Athletic Conference win by a 52-47 score at Grandle Gymnasium.

Sometimes there are just occurrences on a basketball court and in sports in general that are tough to explain, or you just had to see it to believe it. 

A 20-point first quarter, added with 16 points in the second frame, was more than enough for the Hillsboro Lady Indians to fend off a motivated Fairfield Lady Lions in the second half, as HHS won by a 64-47 score Monday in their non-conference Highland County showdown. 

Lynchburg-Clay High School hosted their annual bowling invitational on Monday, Jan. 15. 

Homecoming for the Fairfield Lions was a cause for celebration on the basketball court with the Lions winning their Southern Hills Athletic Conference game against the Manchester Greyhounds in convincing fashion.
