Lions win first-round tournament game against Western Latham

The Fairfield Lions defended their home field on Tuesday in their Division V District First Round match, defeating the visiting Western Latham Indians with a shutout victory.
The No. 16 seeded Lions won by a 6-0 score over the Indians, as Quentin McIntosh led the Lions with a four-goal performance (also known as a haul).
Fairfield also had two goals scored by Logan Burgess, as his goals were unassisted. Burgess also was credited with three assists, all coming off the McIntosh goals.
The match saw Fairfield total 32 shots with 17 shots on goal.
Keeper Anderson Humphreys finished the shutout with three saves.
The win lifts Fairfield’s overall record to 2-12-3 this season. Western Latham finishes their season at 3-13-1 overall.
Next for the Lions is a district quarterfinal match Thursday, Oct. 16 on the road against the No. 1 seeded South Webster Jeeps (13-1-3) at 5 p.m.
