Six girls basketball players from Highland County have been selected to the 2018 Coaches All-District (District 14) team for their play during the 2017-18 high school basketball season.

The Leesburg Fairfield Indoor Track Team recently concluded their regular season Saturday, Feb. 24 at Marshall University. This season, athletes competed at Youngstown State University, Spire Institute, Akron University, Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., The Ohio State University and Cedarville University.

For one half, the Fairfield Lions went toe-to-toe with the Glenwood New Boston Tigers in the Division IV SE District Sectional Finals, even having an 11-point lead in the early stages of the third quarter. But when New Boston switched to man-to-man on the defensive side of the ball, the game completely changed for the Lions.

On Wednesday, Feb. 28, No. 6 Fairfield will take on No. 3 Glenwood New Boston at McDermott High School. Tipoff is at 8 p.m.

The Lynchburg-Clay boys bowling team competed in the sectional tournament on Friday at Shawnee Lanes in Chillicothe, as a total of 18 schools from the Southeast District competed in the tournament.

The Hillsboro Lady Indians bowling team took the lanes at Shawnee Lanes in Chillicothe for the 2018 sectional tournament on Feb. 16, where they won a sectional championship, advancing to the district round.

It wasn’t the ending the Fairfield Lady Lions wanted, but their successful, record-setting season came to a close on Saturday in the Division III SE District Sectional Finals by the Wheelersburg Lady Pirates by a 66-44 score.
