    The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats are sectional champions. WHS, a No. 7 seed, used strikeout pitching and timely hitting to their advantage on Saturday, as they won in shutout fashion, defeating No. 2 seeded Sciotoville (Portsmouth East) 4-0 at PEHS.

    Wanting to keep sharp during down time in-between postseason games, the Whiteoak Wildcats and Fairfield Lions added a third meeting to their slate against each other Friday. For the third time this season it was Whiteoak who were the victors in the non-league game, defeating the Lions 10-8 at WHS.

    Whiteoak junior pitcher Gage Carraher not only helped lead the Wildcats' 8-1 Division IV SE District Sectional final win, but he did it by making the Manchester Greyhounds swing and miss … a lot, striking out 14 batters, setting the single season WHS strikeout record, en route to the Wildcats' 12th sectional championship.
