Lynchburg-Clay broke a streak they really didn't want to have, and in the process moved up to second place in the Southern Hills League golf tournament as they defeated West Union in a 9-hole golf match for the first time in over a decade.

Being the first time the event was held with boys and girls golf on the same day, players overcame hard pouring rain followed by a slight drizzle, along with gusts of wind and even some sunshine as the Miami Trace boys and Westfall girls were the winners of Friday's season-opening event.
