Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Director Stephen D. Dackin Thursday announced 171 Ohio schools are receiving the Purple Star designation as members of the Purple Star Class of 2024.
The Whiteoak Wildcats were winners in consecutive days in their Southern Hills Athletic Conference games on Friday and Saturday afternoons, defeating West Union with a combined no-hitter on Friday, followed by a Saturday win over the Ripley Blue Jays.
The 2023-24 regular season came to a close for the Fairfield Lions on Tuesday night (Feb. 20), as they played a makeup game at Ripley High School and returned home to Highland County with a 72-38 win.
The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs had their top scorer return after four games Tuesday night, and in that process they snapped a three-game losing streak by defending their home court against the Ripley Blue Jays, winning by a 61-26 score.
For the second time this season, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs have welcomed a new member to their 1,000-point club, and that player is senior Macy Etienne.
The past two games for the Whiteoak Wildcats saw a big-time Southern Hills Athletic Conference win vs. Ripley, 62-38, and the following day, the Wildcats lost to South Point at the Dave Young Classic, 77-38.
The Hillsboro Christian Academy Lady Crusaders took part in the 2023 River City Classic hosted by Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington High School on Dec. 27 and 28. The Lady Crusaders finished last in the competition, finishing 0-2 as they played the Bethel-Tate Lady Tigers and the Robertson County (Ky.) Lady Devils.
The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats are now 5-0 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference and have seven overall wins after road victories at Ripley on Friday and Bethel-Tate on Saturday.
Friday night (Dec. 8) was a night full of points and winning for the Fairfield Lions, as they defended Grandle Gymnasium in their Southern Hills Athletic Conference contest with the visiting Ripley Blue Jays.
The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats won their second consecutive game the past Wednesday (Nov. 30) and in the process won their second straight Southern Hills Athletic Conference game by defeating the visiting Ripley Lady Blue Jays, 43-37.
The Ripley Lady Blue Jays seventh grade volleyball team finished tied for first place in Division II of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference with a record of 12-1.
