A shutout win one day after a shootout victory was earned by Hillsboro Post 129 Friday afternoon at Ross County Park. Tucker Hughes allowed just three hits and no runs on the hill for a 2-0 Post 129 win against Findlay Post 3 in the Southwest Wood Bat Classic.

Post 129 got into the swing of things Thursday afternoon with a wooden bat in Chillicothe. At Ross County Park, the home of the Post 62 River Bats, the Hillsboro team scored its third wood bat win of the summer with a 7-6 shootout victory over Post 23.

The four-game winning streak of Hillsboro Post 129 was snapped Wednesday evening at Mary Lou Patton Park, in Chillicothe. The Hillsboro squad was unable to battle back from a five-run fifth inning by Post 757 in an 11-4 loss.

    In mid-October 1976, Miami Trace was dominating the SCOL statistics, having rung up a total of 2,653 yards of total offense. The Panthers also led in defensive stats, allowing the opposition only 489 total yards. Wilmington was second in total offense and Circleville was third – but, both trailed the Panthers by 1,000 yards or more. In team defense, Circleville was second while McClain was third. Circleville had only given up 44 more yards than MT and McClain had given up 192 more total yards than the Panthers. Hillsboro ranked sixth in both categories.

As the newest member of the Southern State Community College team, Adam Holbrook will tackle a dual role as athletic director and academic adviser. This newly created position will allow Holbrook to help student-athletes balance their college experience.

Coach McSurley is 81-15 since 2002 (111-46 overall) at the helm of the Falcons, not to mention he has led his team to not one or two playoff appearances, but eight straight trips since 2002. If McSurley isn't brought back as the Massie football coach, it will not only be a blow to the Falcon football program, but it will be a blow to the South Central Ohio League as well.

Mike Doyle was beginning his fourth year as head football coach at Hillsboro High School as the 1976 season began Sept. 10. In his previous three years at the helm, Doyle had recorded eight wins and 22 losses, overall. His SCOL record was 4-15.
