    Patriots have winning streak snapped, fall to MU-M

    All good things eventually come to an end … and for the Southern State men's basketball team, their 12-game winning streak was ended Wednesday, as they fell to Miami University-Middletown, 99-94.

    In what can be called a must-win game, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs went to a hostile environment with a two-game losing skid, one loss behind the North Adams Lady Green Devils … and promptly erased all that was against them, by defeating the Green Devils, 46-31.

    At one point in the second quarter, the Fairfield Lady Lions were just one point away from tying the score, but once one thing went wrong, lots of things did, and with that, the Lady Lions fell to the visiting Peebles Lady Indians, 57-31 Thursday at Grandle Gymnasium.

    Blain Bergstrom's 25 points leads McClain past Hillsboro

    Blain Bergstrom, Richie Price and Derek Nelson would be back, and would be the heart of the 1995-96 McClain team. But the Tigers would have no experience and practically no size to go with them: 6’ 0” sophomore forward Aaron Trefz, and 5’ 10” sophomore Rob Hull would be competing for playing time, along with 5’ 7” freshman Ryan Weller and juniors Sean Mustard, Stuart Beatty, Mark Clyburn, Josh McCoy and Jeff Ritenour.

    Nothing came easy for either the Hillsboro Indians or the McClain Tigers Tuesday night … nothing at all. Both teams put on a battle where one would top the other in the third quarter, but it was the host Indians who held onto the lead for the final 9:42 minutes to gain a 55-51 win at HHS.
