Hillsboro’s Kelch advances to Division I Districts
Hillsboro sophomore Conner Kelch shot an 84 in the 18-hole Division I SE District Sectional match on Monday, advancing him to the district round.
Kelch’s 84 score at Crown Hill put him in 11th place overall, advancing him to the districts, as he had a front nine score of 41 and a back nine score of 43.
The Indians as a team were seventh place overall, with a team score of 381.
Junior Jackson Cornele totaled a score of 97 (48, 49), while junior Walker Pence carded a 99 (47, 52) in the sectional event. HHS senior Tate Davis finished with a score of 101 (49, 52), and sophomore Logan Barton did not finish the event.
Winning the sectional as a team was Sheridan with a score of 319, followed by Hillsboro’s Frontier Athletic Conference counterpart, the Chillicothe Cavaliers, at 321.
Others from the FAC saw the Jackson Ironmen finish in fifth place with a 360 score, and the Miami Trace Panthers placed ninth at 398.
The individual sectional champion was Chillicothe’s Aidan Fischer, a senior, with a score of 72 (38, 34).
Qualifiers for district are the top 4 teams and 4 individuals not on a qualifying team. Also qualifying as a team for district, other than Sheridan and Chillicothe, were Marietta and Warren.
