Lions upend host Dragons; fall to North Adams

Going on the road to take on the West Union Dragons on Monday, Sept. 28, the Fairfield Lions boys soccer team defeated the Dragons, 2-1 for a big Southern Hills Athletic Conference win.
The Lions had their goals scored by junior Logan Burgess and junior Patrick Hughes. Sophomore Blake Walters had an assist in the win.
West Union’s goal was scored by junior Tyren Pennington with the assist by sophomore Ethan Caldwell.
At goal for the Lions was junior Anderson Humphries, finishing with five saves. West Union keeper, junior Jase Morgan, had 10 saves. For the match, the Lions totaled 15 shots with nine shots on goal, while WUHS had nine shots and two shots on goal.
Next for the Lions was a SHAC match on Wednesday, where Fairfield hosted the North Adams Green Devils and lost by a 6-0 score. NAHS had goals by senior Ian Raines (two), junior Jaxson Baldwin, senior Jayden Reckers, sophomore Kyser Swayne and sophomore Ezra Young.
Assists by the Green Devils were made by sophomore Max Jordan, Reckers (three) and senior Jacob Thatcher.
At goal for NAHS was Thad Moore, a senior, finishing with two saves. Humphries for FHS finished with eight saves.
With the win and loss, the Lions are now 7-4-1 overall and 3-3-0 in the SHAC.
