Whiteoak soccer wins 4th consecutive contest

In their past four matches, the Whiteoak Wildcats boys soccer team have left the field with a win, and that fourth victory came on Friday, Oct. 2 as they defeated the West Union Dragons at home by a 7-1 score. 

Whiteoak’s Southern Hills Athletic Conference win on their home field included a hat trick by junior Christopher Wessner and one goal each from senior Abe Flader, senior Tre Lamb, sophomore Lucas Pollard and junior Rowan Roades. 

Assists in the victory were completed by freshman Logan Barnett (two), sophomore Jaden Fitzpatrick and Wessner. 

At goal for the Wildcats was freshman Koltyn Spitznagel with seven saves.

West Union’s lone goal was scored by junior Tyren Pennington, an unassisted goal. WUHS junior keeper Parker Lewis had one save, while fellow WUHS junior keeper Jase Morgan had 10 saves in the SHAC match. 

Whiteoak now has an overall record of 7-6-0 overall and a SHAC record of 3-4-0. 

In what is their four-game winning streak, the Wildcats have also defeated Peebles (6-0), Westfall (5-1) and McClain (3-0). 

Next for WHS is a non-conference match on Monday, Oct. 5 against Western Latham at Whiteoak High School. 

On Monday, Sept. 28, the Wildcats defeated Peebles 6-0 at WHS. 

Whiteoak had goals scored by Wessner (two), Pollard (two) and one goal each from sophomore Karson Arey and junior Evan Richmond. 

Assists were credited to Lamb, Pollard (two), junior Gabriel Ullon and Wessner. WHS keeper Spitznagel had seven saves in the win. 

Traveling to Pickaway County to take on the Westfall Mustangs in a non-conference game, the Whiteoak Wildcats won by a 5-1 score on Wednesday, Sept. 30. 

Whiteoak had two goals scored by Pollard, and one each were scored by Flader, senior Joao Portilho and Wessner. Assists were made by Barnett and Wessner with one each. 

At goal for Whiteoak was Spitznagel, as he finished with seven saves in the win.
