What we do – The Front Door

As a continuation from last month’s column, I would like to now focus on services the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) offers.
Our services are provided either directly by our Agency or through contracted providers in our community. Services provided directly by our Agency include our Aging and Disability Resource Center, Assessments, Care Management, Caregiver Support Program, Home Repair, Benefits Counseling and Assistance, Service Coordination and Wellness Programs.
The starting point for all services happens through our Aging and Disability Resource Center, or what we call the “Front Door.” By calling 1-800-582-7277, you have immediate access to a comprehensive resource directory for a variety of services offered to residents in our 10-county area.
The Front Door is the central referral point for AAA7 programs. Through our Resource Center, we can offer no-cost, in-home consultations from a certified staff member to discuss long-term care options and planning.
The Resource Center can also connect consumers with referrals to all other AAA7 programs including services like home-delivered meals, personal care, homemaker, emergency response systems, transportation, adult day care, caregiver support and wellness classes.
In addition to program referrals, the Resource Center can also connect consumers with a wide variety of free resources. One of the best resources available is our Benefits Navigator who can help Medicare beneficiaries with questions and share more information about special programs that, if eligible, could help individuals save money on prescriptions and premiums.
We also have a variety of caregiver resources, including our Trualta web-based site that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Through this site, you have access to a plethora of training tips and materials for caregiving at home.
AAA7 offers a wide range of services and support to our communities. Next month, we will share more information about our Case Management and Care Coordination programs.

Publisher's note: A free press is critical to having well-informed voters and citizens. While some news organizations opt for paid websites or costly paywalls, The Highland County Press has maintained a free newspaper and website for the last 25 years for our community. If you would like to contribute to this service, it would be greatly appreciated. Donations may be made to: The Highland County Press, P.O. Box 849, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133. Please include "for website" on the memo line.
