  • AAA7 offering free community suicide awareness, prevention training
    The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) is offering a community training for suicide awareness and prevention called QPR: Question, Persuade, and Refer. The training is free and will be offered virtually on Sept. 5 and is open to any member in the community.

  • Ohio Senior Medicare Patrol, AAA7 partner to help protect older adults from medical identity theft
    The Ohio Senior Medicare Patrol, part of the nonprofit Pro Seniors organization, recently announced its partnership with multiple Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) across Ohio, including the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7), to drive awareness of medical identity theft and stop scammers in their tracks.
  • AAA7 Advisory Council to meet
    The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) will be hosting an in-person Advisory Council Meeting on Thursday, Aug. 24 and is inviting interested community members to attend and participate. The AAA7 covers 10 core counties in southern Ohio, including: Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton. There will be a virtual meeting option available for those who are unable to attend in person.
  • AAA7 Senior Citizens Art Show set for week of Oct. 16
    The 41st annual Senior Citizens Art Exhibit, sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7), is back in person for 2023 after a few years of “virtual only” due to the coronavirus pandemic. The event is being moved to a new location and a different time of the year from years past.

    The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) is thrilled to announce that its “Porch Talk” program received a 2023 Aging Achievement Award from USAging, one of the highest honors presented by USAging to its members.
  • World Elder Abuse Awareness Day recognized June 15
    World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is June 15. According to the U.S. Administration for Community Living, elder abuse refers to any knowing, intentional or negligent act by a caregiver or any other person that causes harm or a serious risk of harm to a vulnerable adult.
  • AAA7 awarded funding to provide vaccination outreach
    The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) was recently awarded funding from the Administration for Community Living through U.S. Aging’s Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative that will allow the AAA7 to provide outreach and education on the importance of vaccines and partner on vaccination opportunities for older adults and individuals living with a disability in the community.

    Established in 1963, Older Americans Month (OAM) is celebrated every May and is a time for us to acknowledge the contributions and achievements of older Americans. Currently, the majority of our older Americans consist of the Silent Generation and Baby Boomers.
