    In a momentous celebration, the Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) in Ohio proudly mark their 50th anniversary, a testament to five decades of dedicated service under the Older Americans Act. These agencies have been instrumental in empowering older adults to live with dignity and independence.

    The start of a new year usually features talk about resolutions and changes that can be made to support a healthier way of living. One way to strengthen your defense in remaining healthy is staying up-to-date on vaccinations. 
  • AAA7 Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program serves record number in 2023
    The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) through the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) had an outstanding year, serving a record number of individuals through the 10 counties served in the AAA7’s district, including Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton. 
  • Home for the Holidays
    To help older adults stay healthy this winter season, the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) is participating in “Home for the Holidays,” a national campaign led by the Eldercare Locator and USAging, the AAA7’s national association. This year’s campaign connects older adults, caregivers and families with information on vaccinations.
  • AAA7 releases annual report
    Helpful information including Agency highlights, facts and figures were included in the Area Agency on Aging District 7’s (AAA7) 2022 Annual Report. The AAA7 provides services to 10 core counties in Ohio, including Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton.
  • Heating assistance available through AAA7 partners
    The Ohio Department of Development and the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) want to remind Ohioans assistance is available to help with their home energy bills. The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) helps Ohioans at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines pay their heating bills.
  • AAA7 hosting free community suicide awareness, prevention training Dec. 5
    The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) is offering a community training for suicide awareness and prevention called QPR: Question, Persuade, and Refer. The training is free and will be offered virtually on Dec. 5 and is open to any member in the community.
  • November is National Family Caregiver Month
    National Family Caregiver Month is celebrated each year in November and is a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country. It offers an opportunity to raise awareness of caregiving issues, educate communities and increase support for caregivers.
  • 41st annual Senior Citizens Art Show winners recognized
    The artwork of local seniors was recently showcased at the Area Agency on Aging District 7’s (AAA7) 41st Annual Senior Citizens Art Show that was recently held at Bristol Village’s Glenn Activity Center in Waverly.
  • AAA7’s Simon receives state award
    Becky Simon, LSW, Long-Term Care Manager at the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7), was recently recognized at the state level by the Ohio Association of Area Agencies on Aging (o4a) for her significant contributions to Ohio’s Aging Network and her leadership that has had an impact beyond her own organization.
  • ‘Dementia Conversations’ virtual education for community, family caregivers set for Nov. 14
    The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7), Holzer Health System Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and the Alzheimer’s Association are joining together to offer the community a virtual way to learn more about dementia as a way to provide support to family members who may be seeking to understand more about the condition and how best to help their loved one. “Dementia Conversations” will be held Nov. 14 from 10-11 a.m.
  • AAA7 Jackson Office sets ribbon cutting, open house for Nov. 9
    The community is invited to a special Ribbon Cutting and Open House event to mark the relocation of the Area Agency on Aging District 7’s (AAA7) Administrative Office and Waverly Office to a combined location in Jackson.
