The Fayette Regional Humane Society (FRHS) is joining over 390 shelters nationwide to reduce adoption fees and find loving homes for pets. BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness, is encouraging a national call for adoption this fall through its "Empty the Shelters" reduced-fee adoption event from October 1 to 15.

"BISSELL Pet Foundation's Fall National Empty the Shelters offers a chance for the community to save lives through adoption while creating space for shelters to help more pets. If you can't adopt, fostering can also make a lifesaving difference. Deserving pets across the country are counting on all of us,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation.

To help deserving shelter pets find homes, BISSELL Pet Foundation sponsors reduced adoption fees of $50 or less per cat or dog during these nationwide events.

Those interested in adopting a new furry friend may visit the FRHS Animal Care and Adoption Center at 4 Commercial Ave., Washington C.H. The reduced adoption fees are $50 for kittens, $20 for cats, and $50 for puppies. FRHS is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

According to FRHS, at the time of the news release, 95 cats and kittens and six puppies in their Animal Care and Adoption Center were waiting for adoption. These numbers change daily as FRHS partners with offsite adoption centers in Beavercreek and Chillicothe.

The six puppies, with their adoption fee reduced to $50, are 16-week-old Lab, Boxer, and Pit mixes. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, rabies vaccinated (if age appropriate), dewormed, treated for fleas, and microchipped.

BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event is the largest funded adoption event in the country. This lifesaving event began in 2016 with a goal of encouraging more families to choose adoption. Nearly 283,000 pets have found loving homes since its inception. Empty the Shelters is BISSELL Pet Foundation’s largest program, partnering with 742 animal welfare organizations in 49 states and Canada to reduce adoption fees.

BISSELL Pet Foundation and the Fayette Regional Humane Society urge families to research the pet they are interested in adopting, as well as adoption requirements. For more information on adopting visit, www.fayetteregionalhumane.org
