While the president has earned bipartisan praise for his support of Israel, there is a creeping anger on the left at Biden for abetting the alleged mistreatment of Palestinians. Even before the Hamas attacks, Israel was being condemned as “an apartheid state” by progressive Democrats, including by some who now serve within the president’s administration.

Events of the past week have brought clarity in many areas. Perhaps the one that hits closest to home for many Americans is the moral rot of academia. Leading academics, scholars, professors, students, and administrators in the United States have had a shockingly hard time condemning mass murder and rape at a music concert in the desert, the slaughter of babies, and the kidnapping of more than 100 civilians of all ages.

We need to continue negotiations for a peace and normalization deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia. President Trump’s Abraham Accords with Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates were a critical first step to peace for the region. A deal with Saudi Arabia would reduce Iranian influence and present a strong front to resist Iran.

The recent attack by Hamas on Israel has ignited global outrage, particularly due to the massacre and kidnapping of civilians. The brutality exhibited by Hamas is deeply unsettling, with President Biden describing it as "pure, unadulterated evil." This act of aggression transcends the borders of Israel, now impacting the entire world.

The U.S. has been lucky since 9/11. Despite the nation’s open borders, the country has so far avoided another major attack on the homeland. The operative words are “so far.”

Both our allies and partners, but also our adversaries, are closely watching how the United States responds to the atrocious Hamas attack on Israel. Allies and partners should be encouraged to follow our actions in supporting Israel and denouncing terrorism.
