Civic theism for the authors of the Declaration moved beyond a narrow set of religious practices or beliefs. Individual founders differed in their doctrines, and yet they unanimously advocated for a theistic republic. It was built on the premise that a good God not only created the world but demanded justice, liberty and equality from those who govern it. Remove its foundation, and a republic such as this is doomed to fracture and collapse.

Faraway country. Poverty stricken area with hard-working citizens, who don’t have much chance to see things change for the better. My hero rides his Honda into their part of his world every day, to deliver help and hope.

I am 94 years old and like many of you, I am exhausted by politics and saddened by what I see happening to America. I had hoped it was time for me to move to the sidelines and let younger generations continue the fight to preserve America’s founding freedoms and values. But, like so many of us, I realized that I could not let myself walk away; the stakes are just too high.

On Veterans Day, we honor the heroes who sacrifice so much to serve our country.

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, seven percent of former U.S. service members experience Post-Traumatic Stress at some point in their lives. Alarmingly, that figure balloons to up to nearly one-third of veterans who served during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

I first met Brad Wenstrup in 2012, along with his former staff member Brian Shrive, who is now an attorney with the Clermont County Prosecutor's Office. I enjoyed speaking with both men. In the early morning of November 13, 1833, the entire United States east of the Rocky Mountains was treated (or terrified) by what may have been the greatest meteor shower in recorded history. Under the Reagan Doctrine, America embraced “peace through strength” – ultimately placing U.S. leadership at the forefront of democracy to preserve liberty and freedom for all.
