Hillsboro High School students recently had the opportunity to learn firsthand about life in Uganda with the visit of Cyrus Muwanga Mark, an east African native visiting the United States for the first time on a missionarymtrip. Stewart, who, along with his wife, Debbi, hosted Mark during his visit for leadership training at Athletes in Action world headquarters in Xenia.

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss denied several pretrial motions Tuesday in a case regarding a defendant who is facing 74 counts in an engaging in a pattern of corrupt activities case. The defense said the state's alleged use of a GPS to track the defendant is a potential violation of his constitutional rights, but the state denies using a GPS on the defendant's vehicle.

Highland County saw a slight decrease in unemployment numbers during the month of October, with the jobless rate falling to 11.7 percent. The Twelfth District Court of Appeals has reversed the conviction of a Kentucky man in Clinton County Municipal Court for an alleged violation of a protective order issued by a court of another state.
An adult male suspect is in custody after a high-speed chase early Sunday morning. The Hillsboro Police Department did not immediately identify the suspect, who was observed driving erratically at 3:35 a.m. Nov. 20 on North High Street and Springlake Avenue. An HPD spokesperson indicated he was a local resident.
