    DAYTON - A Dayton man will not face a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of a Hillsboro man, according to prosecutors, due to Ohio's self-defense law.

  • Poll gives Cain GOP lead in Ohio
    Herman Cain has jumped to the front of the line among GOP presidential contenders with 28 percent support among Ohio Republicans. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is second with 23 percent, while Texas Gov. Rick Perry is almost at the bottom of the pile with 4 percent. Cain leads a three-man race with 40 percent, followed by Romney at 33 percent and Perry at 10 percent.

    The annual Greenfield Halloween parade was held Tuesday evening, beginning at Fifth and Jeffereson Streets in Greenfield. Led by the Paint Creek Joint Fire and Ambulance District and the Greenfield Police Department, the parade included community members, and Greenfield Exempted Village Schools students and staff, all in costume. The parade concluded at the fire station, where Halloween refreshments were served.

Petitioners collected 2,451 signatures, of which 1,444 were deemed valid. The Secretary also approved the full text of the law submitted with the signatures.

  • 27 charges filed against Washington C.H. teen in alleged football "pin-pricking" incident
    Twenty-seven counts of assault were filed Monday against a Washington C.H. teen in Highland County Juvenile Court, stemming from the alleged "pin-pricking" incident following a September Washington C.H. High School vs. Greenfield McClain High School football game. 
    The Highland County Prosecutor's Office concluded its investigation into the incident on Friday, and the charges were filed in Highland County Juvenile Court on Monday.
