  • PAS announces $4 million facility expansion
        PAS Technologies in Hillsboro announced Wednesday that it is in the midst of a $4 million facilities expansion project that will allow the manufacturing facility to grow with business demand and bring in the potential for future jobs.
     
    Dan Boggs, general manager of the PAS facility in Hillsboro, met Wednesday with members of the media, Highland County Commissioners Shane Wilkin and Tom Horst, Highland County Chamber of Commerce President Katy Farber, Kevin Hoggatt of Sen. Rob Portman's office and Hillsboro Mayor Drew Hastings.
     
    PAS is a a global leader in the manufacturing and repair of aviation propulsion components and surface enhancement technologies.

    The Highland County Prosecutor's Office has launched a new website, aimed at keeping Highland County residents informed about the legal system and court processes.

  • Buford community observes Memorial Day

    Family, friends, and the community of Buford braved the hot weather to remember their loved ones on Memorial Day. Mr. Glenn Hess was the emcee for the program and he introduced Pastor Ken Barr of the Buford Community Church to give the invocation. Bob Hodson was the keynote speaker.

  • Veterans Memorial dedication May 28
    The annual Memorial Day Celebration in uptown Hillsboro will take place on the lawn of the Highland County Courthouse and will commemorate the dedication of the new Highland County Veterans Memorial. 
  • Earley and Hopkins receive State FFA Degree

    On May 4 at the 2012 Ohio FFA State Convention, Whitney Earley and Kristy Hopkins of the Hillsboro FFA received the State FFA Degree. Whitney and Kristy are seniors at Hillsboro High School.

    An air system is believed to be the cause of smoke that filled Number One China Buffet on North High Street Saturday night, causing the building to be evacuated.

    Congressman Mike Turner was joined today by a bipartisan group of House lawmakers in writing to Secretary of Commerce John Bryson to express their concerns regarding recent scope ruling requests with the U.S. Department of Commerce that could undermine the antidumping duty order on petroleum wax candles from China.
  • Holtfield Station hosts HUBA barbecue challenge July 6
    The Hillsboro Uptown Business Association (HUBA) will host their first barbecue contest in conjunction with the 2012 Festival of the Bells. The contest will take place at Holtfield Station's parking lot on South High Street, where participants will set up their grills and accessories to compete for the title of "Top Butt Cooker."
  • Ohio hunters harvest more than 17,000 turkeys during spring hunt
    Hunters checked 17,647 wild turkeys during Ohio's four-week statewide spring turkey hunting season that ended May 20, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The preliminary total represents a three percent decrease over last year's harvest number of 18,162.
  • Auditor recommends changes in ODOT fuel use
    Taxpayers spent an extra $3.3 million over the last four years to pay for ODOT’s mandated use of biodiesel fuel in its vehicles, according to a performance audit interim report released by Auditor of State Dave Yost.
