The 2015 Highland County Board of Realtors Golf Tournament was held Friday, July 10 at the Hillsboro Elks Golf Course. A total of 15 teams participated in the annual fund-raising tournament.

Following an introduction by Hillsboro Library Director Jennifer West, Hall of Fame baseball writer Hal McCoy quickly referenced another Hall of Famer Thursday evening during his book signing at the library. "This is my first time in Hillsboro," McCoy said. "But I know Hillsboro is the home of champion trapshooter Joe Hiestand."

Walter A. West was recently honored with 50 years of dedication and service to the American Legion, Mowrystown Post 694. Mr. West entered the service in 1953 and spent eight years in duty with the United States Air Force. He was a member of the U.S. Weather Service and 31st Weather Squadron in Germany.

A former Bainbridge resident is the author of a new book, “1979 short story collection,” a fictional account about coming of age in the heartland. Steve Anderson’s “1979 short story collection” has received positive reviews from author and former university journalism instructor Ken Korczak.
