Sheriff Sanders issues Level 2 snow emergency; NWS issues Hazardous Weather Outlook

Highland County Sheriff Randy Sanders has issued a Level 2 snow emergency as of 5:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6.

This is reduction from an earlier declaration of a Level 3 emergency.

A Level 2 snow emergency means roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Only those who believe it is necessary to drive should be out on the roadways. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work.

Additionally, the National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook  for southwest Ohio tonight through Sunday.

Wind chill values near zero are expected tonight into early Tuesday morning.

Wind chill values near, or a few degrees below zero are expected Tuesday night through Thursday night.

Some roads may remain snow-covered or slick through tonight. Some patchy blowing snow may cause snow to blow back onto previously-cleared roads, allowing for potential slick spots to linger longer than would otherwise be the case. Exercise caution if driving.
