Since at least March 2013, Hillsboro city officials have been made aware that the city's lodging (motel) tax was improperly levied. Since 2013, Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins has told anyone who would listen that this tax should not have been levied. So has The Highland County Press.
The Supreme Court of Ohio has announced the Highland County Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile and Probate Divisions will receive a technology grant from the Supreme Court of Ohio.
The Highland Amateur Radio Association will hold their monthly “Brunch Bunch” coffee gathering on Saturday, June 10 according to Club President Ken Lightner. Lightner states the event is normally held at the Hillsboro Burger King during the winter, but now will move to the Harmony Lake shelterhouse at Hillsboro’s Liberty Park until fall.
Throughout the 2022-23 school year, high school students from Fairfield and Whiteoak participated in the first year of the 'I am a child of Highland County' leadership program.
In a notice dated May 8, the IRS charged the county a penalty under Section 6722 of the Internal Revenue Code for "failure to furnish payee statements or required information." That penalty totaled $229,067.86, with a due date of May 22, 2023.
