Council considers leasing building for police storage

The Hillsboro City Council considered a lease agreement proposed by Hillsboro Safety and Service Director Ralph Holt for a structure for storage of police department property during their regular session May 10. After council stalled in making a decision, Holt said that he would lease the building on a month-to-month basis.

Throckmorton sentenced to five years on meth charge

A Paint Township man who was arrested in March after he was allegedly discovered with a meth lab in his home during a visit from Highland County Children Services has pleaded guilty to an amended charge, and was sentenced to five years in prison.

The bond has been lowered to $25,000 for a former area pastor facing a 17-count indictment of forgery and theft charges after he allegedly stole $100,000 from the Good Shepherd Church in Greenfield.

Mayor doesn't foresee layoffs; auditor still sees future budget deficit

Hillsboro Mayor Dick Zink says that city workers do not have to be afraid their jobs are in danger due to a pending deficit of more than $400,000, as project by Hillsboro Auditor Gary Lewis. Lewis said he hoped the deficit would not result in layoffs, but that is hard to guarantee with the current numbers, and that the city should consider layoffs.
