On Monday night at Washington Senior High School, the McClain Lady Tigers shot their way to another South Central Ohio League win. Shooting 79-percent from the field, MHS, behind three players who scored in double figures, defeated the Washington Lady Blue Lions 54-35 for the season sweep.

Wesley Coonrod has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after he was found guilty Monday on two counts of involuntary manslaughter, felonies of the first degree, in the deaths of his sons Thomas and Stephen.
  He was immediately sentenced to 20 years in prison by Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss, who told Coonrod that the court has not seen him take responsibility for the deaths of his sons.
 "Not only did you not die, trying to save your children, you didn't even try," Coss said. "It appears to the court you did nothing ... You failed to protect your children. You say your children were your life ... There was also a lot of beer in your life."

Edwin H. “Ed” Bundy, 67, of Leesburg, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 at his residence.

Harold Mark Smith, 55, of Leesburg, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus due to complications of pneumonia.

Mary Ethel Huffman, 94, of Peebles (Elmville Community), died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home.

The Lynchburg-Clay FFA Chapter’s Livestock Judging team placed seventh in the state, this qualified them to compete at the World Beef Expo in Milwaukee, Wis., in September.
