This week, I want to take a break from writing about Highland County winter sports and talk about the warmer days ahead. I have baseball on the brain. I don’t know about anyone else, but this snow and cold can go away, as I dream of warm summer days at the ball park.
So let’s get away from this cold weather and talk about the upcoming season of the defending NL Central champion Cincinnati Reds.

    So, after only two SCOL games in the 1982 gridiron campaign, Hillsboro, Miami Trace and Circleville were 2-0 in the league. Washington and Wilmington were 1-1 and McClain, Madison-Plains and Teays Valley were 0-2. In fact, McClain, Madison-Plains and Teays Valley had yet to score a point in SCOL competition.

The 2010 tobacco year was not one that will go down in our memory as a good year.  The marketing of the crop was by far the hardest year for producers in the post-buyout era.  We have seen some increase in the tobacco being accepted at the local receiving station after the opening week, which was a nightmare for producers in most instances.  I am sure most people have heard stories about how unpredictable the market has been at the receiving station with tobacco being turned away one day and sold at a good price just a few days later.

State Senator David T. Daniels (R- Greenfield) has announced that he has been named chairman of the Senate Energy and Public Utilities Committee and vice-chair of the State and Local Government and Veterans Affairs Committee by Senate President Tom Niehaus (R- New Richmond).
