Secretary of State Jon Husted today certified that petitioners seeking a referendum on Senate Bill 5 have collected 915,456 valid signatures, meeting the necessary requirements to place the issue on the 2011 November ballot. Petitioners needed 231,147 signatures or six percent of the total vote cast for Governor in 2010.

And then there’s the TV commercials for “those romantic moments.” I swear I’m not making this up, but one of the commercials shows a man and a woman sitting in separate bathtubs in the middle of the woods. Why? Because you never know when the time is right. Men buy this product, of course. Why? Because they are scared to death that one day they’ll come home and see two bathtubs sitting in the woods or the backyard under two tiki torches and a plastic palm tree. Hey, you never know when the time is right. You must be prepared.

Fawley told commissioners Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst and Jeremy Shaffer that the county’s estimated revenues for this year were approximately $8.225 million and that the collective expenses for next year were estimated at approximately $8.469 million.

The Hillsboro Police Department is investigating the death of a 3-month-old Hillsboro child, although foul play is not suspected. 

According to the HPD, Wednesday at 3:56 p.m., the department responded with Hillsboro Fire and Rescue to a call in the 300 block of South East Street that an infant was not breathing and not responsive.
