Former Chatfield College president to head award-winning Xavier program

Dr. Nancy Linenkugel, OSF, DM, LFACHE, is the new chair of Xavier University's Health Services Administration effective August 16, 2011. She replaces Dr. Ida Critelli Schick who retired in May after 19 years at Xavier and 13 as Chair of the Department.

Hillsboro man charged after robbery at Days Inn
Hillsboro police and deputies, plus a K-9 unit, from the Highland County Sheriff's Office responded. Their search led them to an apartment on Cedarwood Drive. After receiving permission to conduct a search, officers arrested Darryl Watson, 25, of Cedarwood Drive, Hillsboro. Watson is being held at the Highland County Justice Center and will appear in Hillsboro Municipal Court on July 25.

Ohio State Fair opens Wednesday, July 27
The 2011 Ohio State Fair opens Wednesday, July 27 for a 12-day run. Country music star and former Hillsboro Festival of the Bells performer Brad Paisley will entertain fair-goers on Aug. 7, the closing night of the fair.

Court denies motion to suppress in child pornography case
A motion to suppress a search that led to the alleged discovery of child pornography on the computer of a Hillsboro man was overruled Friday during a hearing in Highland County Common Pleas Court.
  Dana Jeter, 52, appeared for a suppression hearing before Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss, during which the judge determined that Jeter's fourth amendment rights were not violated because there was no actual search, and therefore a warrant was not needed.
