A jury in Highland County Common Pleas Court has found Zachary Bondurant and Jeffrey Stevens guilty on all charges - including first-degree felony counts of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity regarding a drug trafficking enterprise.
  Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss denied defense attorney requests for pre-sentence investigations and proceeded immediately to sentencing.

 Fourteen witnesses - some in handcuffs and striped prison uniforms - offered testimony Tuesday in Highland County Common Pleas Court in the trial of Zachary Bondurant and Jeffrey Stevens, who face the first-degree felony charge.

Hillsboro Police Chief Nick Thompson confirmed this week that his department, in cooperation with village and city police departments, will provide security for the 2011 Highland County Fair. "All the city and village police chiefs stepped up to the plate and asked what they could do to help. At this time, a mutual aid agreement is being signed by each entity, and all agencies will be providing personnel to patrol the Highland County Fair."

Three Highland County teens were injured in a crash over the weekend, that left at least one 16-year-old with serious injuries.
  According to the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday, a silver Saturn carrying three 16-year-olds was traveling on Certier Road off state Route 131. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to strike a culvert, and then two trees.

This summer the Ohio General Assembly and governor passed a State operating budget which takes bold steps toward improving Ohio’s already great universities. Historic construction reform, commercialization expansion, and the ability for universities to enter into lease-back agreements were accomplished to help universities realize cost savings.

A Wilmington man has pleaded guilty to engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and was sentenced to nine years in prison Friday. As a result of the plea, nearly $40,000, and four vehicles were forfeited to Highland County.
 Rodger Cassell pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree felony engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity; one count of possession of drugs, a felony of the third degree; and a forfeiture of property specification.

A trial date has been continued for a man charged with first-degree felonious assault with a firearm, allegedly against a law enforcement officer.
 Justin Stubbs, 33, appeared Friday in Highland County Common Pleas Court before Judge Rocky Coss.

A Hillsboro man has been arrested on a second-degree felony aggravated burglary charge, and another man is still being sought by authorities.
 On Aug. 10 at 9:38 pm the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a resident in the 10000 block of Careytown Road in Penn Township stating that she awoke and found a male in her house. The male suspect had ran out of the house when he was confronted by the homeowner, and got into the passenger side of a vehicle.
