The Hillsboro Planning Commission met Tuesday evening, with the election of officers as the only major agenda item.
With five of the commission's seven members present, chairperson Dave Lowell asked if there was a quorum, and the commission agreed that they had a quorum.
Lowell asked for nominations for officers, and Tim Young nominated Lowell as chairperson. Lowell said, "I'm a fan of term limits," but accepted the nomination. Member Kevin Barreras agreed to the nomination of vice chairperson. Robert Brown then made a motion that nominations be closed, which was seconded by Dan Benkiel. The commission voted unanimously to elect Lowell and Barreras to the posts.
The Hillsboro mayor and safety and service director are members of the planning commission, as part of the office. Mayor Drew Hastings and Safety and Service Director Richard Giroux were not in attendance Tuesday night.
"I wish that the mayor had been here so we can introduce ourselves and tell him about our areas of expertise," Lowell said.
Lowell said that during the January meeting there typically is no business, other than the election of officers.
With no further business before the commission, the meeting was adjourned after approximately five minutes in session.
