    Hillsboro High School art students enjoy success at SSCC

    Hillsboro High School art students were very successful in this show, with Erin Chaney receiving Best of Show, for her charcoal self-portrait, and Jonathon Gillman receiving Reserve Best of Show, for his Ceramic wire series. Best of School awards went to Jonathon Gillman, Best of School; Matthew Miller, Reserve Best of School; with Honorable Mentions going to Evan Barrett, and Jonathon Gillman.

    Area Agency on Aging District 7 celebrates 40 years of service

    2012 marks 40 years of home and community-based services that the Area Agency on Aging District 7 has provided to the community. The Agency, which covers ten counties in southern Ohio, has a number of events planned throughout the year to celebrate, including the unveiling of a special logo to commemorate the milestone.

    Derailed train cars to be removed Monday

    A crew that will get a derailed train in the village of Greenfield back on track will not be able to make it to Highland County until Monday. However, Greenfield City Manager Betty Bishop said they have been assured the cars are in a safe position to make it through the weekend. 

    Bishop has asked that area residents stay away from the Greenfield bridge where two cars remain off the tracks, but upright, following an incident Thursday.

    A train passing through the village of Greenfield has come off the tracks while traveling across a bridge within the village corporation limits, but no injuries or extensive property damage has been reported.

    Romney wins in Ohio, Santorum wins Highland County

    Mitt Romney is being declared the unofficial winner in Ohio's Republican presidential primary Tuesday, edging out Rick Santorum. 

    In Highland County, Santorum was a clear victor Tuesday, with 2,301 votes, to Romney's 1,862 votes, unofficial.

    Primary Election Results: Mustard, Wilkin move on to general election WATCH THE VIDEO

    Unofficial results area showing that Republican incumbent Shane Wilkin beat fellow GOP challenger Steve Cowdrey, while Paint Township Trustee Randy Mustard won over fellow Democrat Josh Patton Tuesday in the primary race for candidates for the Highland County Board of Commissioners. 

      According to unofficial results from the Highland County Board of Elections, Wilkin, who is seeking his second term in office, received 3,435 votes, while Cowdrey received 1,862.

    Mustard had 873 votes, and Patton received 462 votes, unofficially.

    Republican Dr. Brad Wenstrup is declaring an unofficial upset over incumbent Jean Schmidt in the race for Ohio's 2nd Congressional District.
