The Hillsboro Police Department is investigating a possible meth-making operation in the 700 block of North West Street.

A news release from the HPD said officers were led to the area of North West Street and Springlake Avenue on an investigation at approximately 1:32 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3.

An officer saw a person in the vicinity. The subject fled from the officer and entered a residence at 774 N. West. St. The officer detected an odor, and upon checking the area, a female was found on the property hiding inside a shed.

The officer observed items related to the illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine. A search warrant was obtained, and evidence seized indicated the illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine, the HPD said.

No one was found at the residence at the time the warrant was served. The case will be presented to Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins.
